RNA makes generous contribution to the 夜色直播app Drumfork families centre

Fundraising

The 夜色直播app Naval Association (RNA) has contributed 拢30,000 to the 夜色直播app Navy and 夜色直播app Marines Charity鈥檚 (夜色直播app) Drumfork Families Centre in Faslane.

Due to open next year, the Drumfork Families Centre is one of the largest ever projects undertaken by the 夜色直播app. Without the generosity of supporters like the RNA, the project would not have been possible.

A once much-visited hub for the submariner community, the Drumfork Centre had fallen into a serious state of disrepair following years of use. However, it will now be rejuvenated by the 夜色直播app, their key strategic partner Greenwich Hospital and the 夜色直播app Naval Association.

The modernisation will see an expected 2,000 users per month visit the facility. A much needed 拢30,000 donated by the RNA will contribute significantly to the estimated 拢3 million project. Comprising current and former Naval Service personnel, relatives and supporters, the RNA has over 20,000 members and more than 300 branches in the UK and overseas.

Discussing the Drumfork Families Centre, General Secretary of the RNA, Paul Quinn OBE said:

鈥淭he RNA is delighted to provide a kick-start donation of 拢30,000 for the Drumfork Club Project. This is an inspirational project that will benefit all parts of the Naval family in Faslane.

As an ex-Faslane submariner, I am very aware that ways to support and bring naval families is vitally important 鈥 when loved ones are dived on operations and out of contact. We all know that it is way past time that the Club is modernised and we look forward to seeing the Club in full swing before too long.

The RNA is very proud of its close work with the 夜色直播app as our members鈥 preferred charity, a supporter of our Project Semaphore for digitally isolated veterans and the custodian of our investments.  We congratulate the 夜色直播app on this challenging and innovative project 鈥 Bravo Zulu鈥.

Speaking about the RNA鈥檚 generous contribution, Director of Fundraising and Marketing, Alasdair Akass said:

鈥淲e are incredibly grateful to the RNA for their generous donation to the Drumfork Families Centre. Having the RNA鈥檚 support for a project that will demonstrably improve the lives of submariners and their families is extremely important.

As we approach the 50th anniversary of the Continuous At Sea Deterrent, it is essential that we continue to enhance the lives of those who undertake the extraordinary work of being a submariner.

It is crucial that the families who reside in Faslane are shown the support necessary to thrive in the community while their loved ones serve. The new centre will be a vital social hub for submariners and their families for years to come. Thank you to the RNA for assisting us with this project. 鈥

Located in the nearby town of Helensburgh, Drumfork will provide a number of facilities that will benefit both the serving and local community including; a self-contained registered day nursery, a coffee shop, chapel and multi-activity spaces for groups. The centre will be a lifeline for families relying on each other for emotional and practical support whilst a loved one is away at sea and will help reassure active naval personnel that their families have the best possible support in their absence.

Set to be officially opened in 2019, fundraising is ongoing and donations are still being warmly welcomed. To help bring the Drumfork Families Centre to life, please contact Alasdair Akass on 023 9387 1538 or email Alasdair.Akass@rnrmc.org.uk
